Dralion Production

Dralion is the last production in 6 month after «O» (october 1998) et La Nouba (december 1998), Dralion was presented as a world premiere in montreal on the 22nd of april 1999. According to the Chinese calendar, 1999 is the year of the rabbit. But for the Cirque du Soleil and Microtrol, this is the year of Dralion.

Microtrol was approched once again by Cirque du Soleil to conceive and integrate the controls for the scenography. Dralion offers a futuristic scenography with the integration of an aluminum structure made up of three rings, each of which has a particular function. One ring, called "the sun", serves as an acrobatic apparatus. The "sun" can travel verticaly from the stage to the dome of the big top on a 40 foot travel in spectacular ways as it can rotate on itself with an ingenious system of winches controlled by computer.
